DC Comics Slurpee Checklist!

Oh my gosh! Remember these? (Well, all you old timers [lol], obviously the youngsters won't) I was cleaning up some crap on my computer and came upon this pic. I don't know how long I've had it or where I found it, but I had totally forgotten about it. It's so awesome. I drank so many Slurpees that year. (Okay, I drank a lot of Slurpees all the time, 7-11 was like my second home. Where else was I gonna get my comics!!?)But these cups were awesome! I wish I still had mine. Hm, I might still at my dad's house. But I'm sure they're in crap condition. I just checked on eBay, and they go for like $10 a pop. And I'll bet you wouldn't find one in excellent condition. I want those damn cups!!

Especially "Ms. Shazam" and "Shazam Jr." Heh.

  2. I still have the Lois Lane cup. Don't know why. But I do.

I lived a few blocks form 7-11, so I was there almost every day. I had a fair amount of the collection, but somehow they just vanished (except for Lois) like my Megos and other cherished childhood treasures that I thought I outgrew - but wish to heaven that I still had!

Gosh - those Slurpees tasted so good too!

  3. The great thing about this is that there are SO MANY of them! And so many are so OBSCURE except to comic book fans. I can't imagine a major chain trying a promotion like this today. The marketing department would be having fits -- "But what percentage of the public even knows who that is? Just put Batman on a cup! Oh, and maybe the Joker. That's all!"

  4. What, no Black Canary cup? How are you gonna have Mr. Tawky freaking Tawny and NOT show Dinah some love?

  5. I just noticed - there's Shazam, "Shazam, Jr." and "Ms. Shazam".

  6. For those of you that have the cups. I hate you. Sorry, just can't help myself...

doug: I lived a few blocks from a 7-11, too! It seemed like everytime I went there they had new comics. So I started going 2 or 3 times a week. I couldn't understand why they didn't ALWAYS have new comics. I was so young. LOL!

sea_of_green: You are totally right!! 100%. That just wouldn't happen today! And that sucks!

christina: I KNOW!! I looked through that chart, name by name, three times trying to find Canary. How could they have Green Arrow with Black Canary!!?? It's just not right. But I guess when they got to Tarzan's Jane they reached their female quota. I don't know. It's just stupid.

  9. I was at a flea market this weekend and saw a handful of these cups priced from fifty cents to two bucks. They were mostly beaten to shit. Saw Brainiac 5 & Cosmic Boy, Wonder Woman, Mr. Tawny and, I believe, a Lois Lane. I didn't buy them because they were in seriously harsh shape and they would have ended up being more clutter that I just don't need.

  10. "I didn't buy them because they were in seriously harsh shape..."

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm saying. I want them, but if they aren't in decent looking, displayable shape, I don't want them.

Even if they'd probably just end up in storage with all the other cool stuff I have and don't have room for...
