Green Fury the green-flamed hero

You know Dazzler,

Wind Dancer,

The Prancer,

And Vixen.

Comet,

And Cupid,

Dick Donner,

And Blitzen.

But do you recall
The most famous Super-Friend of all?

Fury the green-flamed hero,
Had a very fiery nose.
And if you ever saw it
You would surely say it blows.

All of the other heroes
Used to laugh and call her names.
They never let Green Fury
Join the super hero games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say:
"Fury, with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

This made the others jealous,
And they shouted out meanly:
"Fury the green-flamed hero,
Your power's disgusting!"

"First Lady of Star Trek" Passes Away

"FIRST LADY OF STAR TREK"
MAJEL BARRETT RODDENBERRY
PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 76

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 18, 2008) – Actress Majel Barrett Roddenberry, beloved star of sci-fi phenomenon Star Trek passed away early this morning surrounded by family and friends. Roddenberry was 76 years old. She began her acting career in the 1950's with roles in such popular shows as "Leave it to Beaver," "Bonanza" and "The Lucy Show; but it was her numerous roles in the legendary Star Trek franchise that fans came to know and love her. Roddenberry had featured roles in almost every Star Trek television and film entity and became an iconic figure within the fan community. Her roles included Nurse Chapel in Star Trek: The Original Series, Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the voice of the USS Enterprise computer in almost every incarnation of the series. However, it was the love affair between her and the late Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry that earned her the title "The First Lady of Star Trek." Over the course of their more then quarter-century love affair, she became not only Gene's partner, but also his creative muse. Roddenberry helped Gene expand the Star Trek universe and was an integral part of its continued legacy after his death. Majel recently completed reprising her role as the voice of the USS Enterprise for J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film.

Roddenberry succumbed to a short battle with Leukemia at 12:27 AM on December 18 in her Bel-Air home. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her son Rod Roddenberry and family friends. She is survived by her only son Eugene "Rod" Roddenberry Jr. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the CARE Organization or Precious Paws both of which share Roddenberry's love for animals and dedication to animal rescue.

Frank Miller? Seriously?

Comic Book Resources is running a poll: Which comic writer made the biggest impact on the industry in 2008?

The choices are: Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Geoff Johns, Robert Kirkman, Jeph Loeb, Mark Millar, Frank Miller, Grant Morrison, J. Michael Straczynski and Joss Whedon.

How exactly has Frank Miller made an impact on the industry in 2008? He only had 3 comics published (ALL STAR BATMAN & ROBIN #8-10). What's the impact of that? Showing that a big name talent can do almost nothing and still be a big name? Working on the Spirit movie doesn't count. 1) It barely impacts the comics industry and 2) We won't really see it's impact until it comes out...one week before the year 2008 is over.

While people like Gail Simone and Dwayne McDuffie, who both have had some critical acclaim (how much love does ASB&R get?) and actual product on the market, are snubbed.

I'm not a Frank Miller hater (not really a huge fan, either), but really, what did he do that qualifies him for having made a big impact on the comics industry in 2008?
